Samsung India Announces US$ 70 million Capacity Expansion Plans

Samsung Electronics has announced of its plans of tripling  its manufacturing capacity  of its Noida Mobile Manufacturing Unit(UP,India). The company will be infusing over US$ 70 million for this initiative aimed  at spiraling of its mobile manufacturing operations in India.
Mr J S Shin, President & CEO , Samsung South West Asia on a  press release stated that, “India is one of the top 3 mobile markets for Samsung in the world and we stand committed to this market and our Indian consumers. Given the strong potential of this market, we are working on consistently strengthening our presence in the country through a very innovative mobile portfolio as well as enhanced manufacturing and R&D operations.”
At  present Samsung India runs two R&D Centers, one at Noida and other at Bangalore to backup its business operations in the country. The Bangalore centre primarily develops protocols and software platform for its mobiles.
The Engineers in Indian R&D facilities collaborate with their counter parts elsewhere in the world  to develop cutting edge solutions and products in 4G,and LTE technologies .To facilitate the growth in Indian market Samsung  India,s R&D centre is now focusing on developing localized solutions for handsets that are customized to the Indian market requirements.


The Samsung range of Mobile includes multimedia phones consisting  of the Hero and Metro series, dual sim handsets , touchscreen mobiles and Smartphones including the ‘bada’ based Wave series and the Android based Galaxy series of handsets Samsung recently launched  two tablets in Indian Market the Galaxy tab (P1000) and GALAXY Tab 750.
The Samsung mobile manufacturing unit at Noida is Samsung’s sixth overseas manufacturing facility  in the world, engaged in manufacturing multimedia, dual SIM and touchscreen models
