Nokia has proved that it is a different manufacturer by paying attention to its old models. It’s a good news for all Nokia 52XX series users.
Nokia has released new firmware update v50.x.xxx for Nokia 5228, 5230, 5233, 5235, 5236 and the 5238. The new firmware brings a few major changes to the handsets.
The most significant aspect of the new firmware is that it brings a new version of the web browser V7.2 to the handsets that will provide improved browsing experience. It is the same browser that is available in Symbian Anna.
The new firmware brings various improvements where the phone will display a big clock showing the time and date when the menu button is pressed instead of when the phone is locked. It will bring support for emoticons too.
Ovi contacts will be deleted from the handset after the update. The update will improve the performance of the phones and fix some of the bugs. The handsets can be unlocked by simply swiping on he screen.

The update is available through NSU (Nokia Software Updater) and also through OTA (Over The Air). Users do not need to make a backup of their data using Nokia Back feature before updating as the 52xx series phones support UDP (User Data Preservation). But to be on the safe side users must have a backup of all their data using Nokia Back feature before performing the update.
