The count of unsatisfied Mobile Service users is now par 105.70 lakh in India by the end of May, 2011.
More than 10.5 million mobile subscribers have considered Mobile Number Portability (MNP), the service to switch operators without changing the number, till May, 2011, according to the official data.
According to the statistics released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Gujarat is again on the top in the country in terms of MNP requests with 1,052,582 subscribers using the facility in the state.
In terms of MNP, Idea Cellular, Vodafone and Airtel have emerged to be the most preferred service operators that have continued to gain subscribers from other service operators.
Idea Cellular has recived maximum number of MNP customers with addition of 7.44 lakh new customers till May 30. Vodafone gained 6.91 lakh subscribers via MNP while the largest service provider in the country, Bharti Airtel had a net gain of 6.20 lakh MNP customers.
Reliance Communication (RCOM, both GSM and CDMA), PSU BSNL and Tata TeleServices have lost the maximum number of customers through MNP.
Out of 105.70 lakh MNP users around 6.32 lakh requests are from Haryana where MNP facility was implemented from 25th November, 2010. In the remaining parts of the country, in MNP Zone-I (Northern and Western India) most requests were from Gujarat (10.53 lakh) and next from Rajasthan (8.25 lakh). In MNP Zone-II (Southern and Eastern India) maximum number of requests of Port Out were from Karnataka (7.95 lakh) followed by Tamil Nadu (7.74 lakh).
