Mobile Operating Systems Occupying Top News Slots

Ever since Google announced of its acquisition of Motorola Mobility, the handset division of Motorola Mobile operating systems are always occupying top slot on news paper columns. Even basic version handsets claims of having dual core processors, music playback, HD video recording facility and of course even e-wallets.

Motorola customers are happy as Motorola will be receiving faster support from Google, the research engine behind the Android Operating system. Other players like HTC, Samsung, Huawei welcomes the move as the synergy out of merger will result in an improved Android operating system, it is worthwhile to quote that Android has become the de facto operating system for Smart-phones and tablets these days.

Motorola Mobility plans to launch its latest version of Operating System Ice-cream Sandwich aka Android v 4.0 in October this year. Motorola claims that the new operating system will be able to offer simultaneous support for both Smart-phones and tablets. There are also rumors circulating in the market around the name of next android version-Jelly Beans, which is named in lines of Google’s alphabetical order of confectioneries.

Intel also has struck an alliance with Google for developing an Atom chips optimized for its Android devices. Earlier Intel has faced setback on its attempt to partner with Nokia to install MeeGo, a Linux based operating system in Nokia’s smartphone. This alliance didn’t took place as Nokia tied hands with Microsoft and opted Windows phone 7 for its mobiles. However Intel went ahead with the development of MeeGo a primary mobile OS, rather than promoting it as a platform to use on other fields.

The market had also witnessed launch of two Android based OS – Baidu Yi and Aliyun from Baidu – the Chinese search giant & Alibaba – the largest Chinese online retailer, respectively. Aliyun Os from Alibaba is a cloud based open mobile operating system launched in July. Alibaba also plans to release an English version of Aliyun in nearby future, The company also plan to launch a tablet based on Aliyun OS. Baidu introduced its Yi platform to the world on the first week of this September.

The other news attracted medias attention includes huge discount offer on Hp’s webOS devices at a huge discounted price ($99 instead of $399) and on its tablets (HP Touch-pad) & smart-phones. Hp offered these products on a mega sales for attractive rates as HP don’t see any future prospect on these products, News about webOS being acquired by Samsung came to an end as Samsung executives expressed that they are not interested in webOS and will instead stick with the existing bada OS and Androids. There are also speculations about Samsung plans to move away from Windows phone support in 2013 as the demand for these devices are marginal. Many reports indicate that bada has better market share compared to Microsoft’s Windows mobile OS. Samsung also announced of it move to make bada 2.0 available to all Wave phones, that can support the upgrade.

HTC is looking for buying a mobile OS and the experts think HTC may go an acquisition, probably the webOS from HP. One time market leader Nokia is now obsessed with Android mania as desi companies are eating into its market share faster than before. In the starting of year Nokia has struck a deal with a deal with Microsoft for using Windows OS for its smart-phones. The first Windows phone from Nokia is exposed as Sea Ray with decent specs. Windows Phone 7 comes with a hardware requirement which will cost a fortune and deprive it from competing with low cost Androids (sub $100).

Nokia still continue to offer Symbian range of products as Nokia 700, Nokia 701. Nokia Recently announced of its Nokia 600 with Symbian Belle Platform. Nokia also provides Microsoft Productivity Apps with Symbian Belle phones. Nokia Maps will be given to all Symbian Series 40 handsets. The other developments in operating system market includes launch of Windows 8 with touch screen aimed at offering better facilities to challenge threats posed from iOS and Android.
Apple iPhone 5 is due on mid-October, as told by CEO of France Telecom. This will surely come up with new version of iOS.

Research in Motion launched (RIM) launched BlackBerry Curve 9350, 9360 And 9370 which are shipped with Blackberry OS 7.
