IDEA Cellular, the third largest GSM mobile service operator in the country extended its 3G mobile and data services to two more circles, Maharashtra & Goa and Uttar Pradesh (West) too. Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana already had are the 4 telecom circles out of the 11 to get IDEA 3G service.
IDEA Launches 3G in Maharashtra-Goa And UP West
With the launch now IDEA subscribers in Pune, Nagpur, Nasik, Meerut, Agra, Dehradun, Muzzafarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee, Kashipur, Rudrapur and Haridwar can enjoy multimedia applications like video conferencing, mobile TV, IDEA mall application store, video on demand and high speed mobile broadband easily.
IDEA Cellular announced that its national 3G footprint will cover 200 cities by mid April, 2011. It will continuously grow at a rate of 10 towns per day to cover 750 towns by mid 2011 and 4000 towns by the end of 2012. At present, 10% of the 86 million IDEA subscribers are using 3G enabled handsets. These users are expected to be the early adopters of the 3G services.
Idea mobile subscribers can activate the 3G service by sending SMS ACT3G to 12345 (toll free) or by dialing *147# (toll free). A conformation message will be received. The 2G data plan will be deactivated after the activation of subscriber 3G Data Plan, Pay As You Go. The charges of 3G local, STD and Roaming video calls will be 5p/sec.
