BSNL’s Move to Indirectly Hike Tariff Rates

  • Sumo

On the heels of competitors, BSNL is now looking to increase its tariff rates. But they have used a smarter approach by decreasing the validity of the recharge coupon and increasing prices of some STVs to some extent. This will not attract the attention of most customers towards the rate hike as it is indirect.

A small correction was made by BSNL today in its prepaid tariff plan and new “Pay Per second Plan” (1.2 paisa/Sec for other network calls) and All@49 Plan for its lifetime prepaid users were announced. These new rates and hikes will be levied w.e.f. 5th August.

The lifetime prepaid subscribers will now pay 1 paisa per second with the new plan for BSNL to BSNL calls and 1.2 paisa per second. The All@49 plan will let subscribers call at 49 Paisa per minute to all networks across all regions. These STVs hold valid only for 365 days. But for users who are already on this plan the new rates will not be applicable immediately.
