Nokia Siemens Networks exploited its Orthogonal Sub-Channel Dual Full Rate (OSC-DFR) software feature by conducting the world’s first pre-commercial call for GSM networks. This is an important improvement in the evolution of GSM.
This gives dual profits to GSM operators of significantly improved speech quality and almost 100% increase in voice capacity.
The operators who have imply Adaptive Multi Rate-Full Rate in their networks can use the OSC-DFR feature to attain high speech quality and can even double their voice capacity.
The new GSM feature of Nokia Siemens Networks’ will be utilized from the end of June 2011 in customer pilots.
