College students and others who enjoys the privilege of unlimited SMS service packs provided by various mobile operators has to disappoint as the Telecom regulatory body(TRAI) directed them to restrict SMS packs to a maximum of 100 per day.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has announced that it will implement the new regulations (Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2011.) aimed at reducing the nuisance caused by the telemarketing SMSes from 27th of September of 2011. However these regulations will not affect telemarketers who use products and services which comply with the new regulations.
As per the TRAI notification subscribers cannot renew SMS packs which allow more than 100 SMS on a day . The major telecom players who offers more than 100 SMS per day packages are expected to replace them with new packages that allows 100 SMS per day or 3000 SMS in a month.
