As the number of mobile internet users increases rapidly all over the country mobile network operators struggle to provide better facilities as there is limited spectrum available. Users are particularly advised to do only essential work on phone and leave the heavy usage for fixed connections. As this philosophy is picking up leaner data packages are promoted instead of unlimited plans.
Aircel has withdrawn its unlimited data usage plan and introduced a new plan where one can use internet up to the limit of 2GB to 6GB per month for Rs.100. this is what most operators are trying to do except STel, Videocon and MTNL who are still continuing with unlimited plans.
Since 3G data plans are costly they are not very popular among users and usage based plans are pocket burners. Opera Software, makers of Opera Browser for all platforms have come up with Opera Turbo. This is a pre-installed feature in Opera mini that will help users to surf the internet on their phones without using lesser bandwidth. This will reduce usage and hence billing amounts. Opera Turbo is around since long but its effectiveness has been highlighted only when the bandwidth problem has surfaced.
