In Gurgaon, Haryana Traffic will soon be managed by a new program called ‘3rd Eye’. And the leading mobile handset maker Nokia will be the technology expert in this venture. The program will basically facilitate better management of traffic in the city.
It will be implemented in phases and the first phase will be across the West, East and Highway traffic Zones. Across the city 50 traffic constables have been equipped with Nokia E5 phone with Tselina in them since the 1st week of June. Training is also given to use the ‘3rd Eye’ technology. In the next phase at least 300 more constables will be seen using this technology to nab traffic violators at different places in the city.
The project has brought to light some of the most frequent violations in traffic. They are: Not stopping at correct place at red light (53%), Parking in No parking Area (22%), Overloaded Vehicle (9%), Driving without proper number plate (6%) and Wrong turn / Wrong side driving (5%). This new software in the Nokia E5 phones will try to get a photo of the traffic rule violator along with the license plate and the surrounding as proof. As it’s already implemented, some 1000 photos are already in the bag.
The photo that is taken by Tselina will be recorded and stored with the traffic police database and will consequently serve as evidence against the defender.
